Torn & Frayed. Acrylic paint 85/60cm. November 2024
Some thoughts on the painting.
I painted a disintegrating Pandemonia Venus. The masked persona acts as a universal placeholder. Like a religious icon, the mask reveals beauty’s fragility while serving as a memento mori. The internal logic of the work reminds us that all bubbles burst, urging us to embrace life’s finite nature. As the figure breaks down, it reveals our shared experience of impermanence beneath our constructed exteriors. The masked figure reminds us we have the freedom to create our destiny and even in dissolution, there is transformation in following one’s path.
